One place not to place a mirror is at the end of a long hallway. Placing a mirror here will just make the hall seem twice as long. Instead try placing a decorative mirror or a group of smaller mirrors on the sidewalls of the hallway to create visual interest in the hall and provide a reflective surface for much needed light.
